With more than 30 years' experience designing luxury homes in the valley and beyond, Tor was named the 2016 Master of the Southwest and is also an HGTV pro and award winner. After graduating from Washington State University in 1986 with a Bachelor of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science of Architectural Studies, he then went on to study at the University of Oslo and the Architecture Association of London, focusing on green architecture and sustainability. Following an internship with John Pela & Associates, Tor became a licensed architect in 1994. Tor founded his own company—ArchitecTor—in 1997, and has since completed hundreds of custom homes as well as several condominiums, office complexes, fitness centers, and post offices. ArchitecTor has projects all over the world from Mexico to Norway and in a dozen US states including Arizona, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Florida, and Hawaii.

I am an interior designer who has had the pleasure of working with Tor on many different new construction homes. He is filled with talent, creativity and passion and his architecture stands out from others. I always joke that he makes my job easy because his architecture is such a statement. I always enjoy his motivational talks that inspire me into more creativity. Aside from his major talent, he is a joy to work with. He is a true team player with the client's interest always a top priority. I will submit plan change requests after client meetings, and he never seems frustrated, as he wants our clients to be happy with their home. Between interior bridges, glass floors, green roofs, two-story pools, retracting glass walls, and beautiful ceiling details, a home designed by Tor is never basic and always a statement.

I had walked through a home at Desert Mountain that perfectly blended into the surrounding landscape and seamlessly transitioned its interior with the outdoors. I saw something different and yet amazingly strikingly beautiful in every direction I turned. The serene, gorgeous and functional home filled me with a sense of calmness and peace. I had to find the designer; that's how I met Tor. Tor designed a home for us at Desert Mountain. Throughout the process I found Tor to be very easy to work with, very thorough, an excellent communicator, extremely knowledgeable about HOA guidelines and processes. His creative brilliance has resulted in the most magnificent homes in North Scottsdale. It is fun working with Tor and I highly recommend him for your project.

Tor did our plans for our new home and aided with the teardown of the existing house. He came up with many creative ideas that we used and the build went very smoothly. We even did a pocketing 90 degree door corner that had not been done before by Sierra Pacific. Because the direction we needed required some unusual engineering Tor was always there on point. Having built many homes in our lives the best part about Tor is he answered his phone or quickly called back when trades had questions about the plans. This is HUGE! We are now living in our home and just love it! I highly recommend him.

I had the pleasure of working on one of Tor's custom homes in Desert Mountain (Scottsdale, AZ). I was the interior designer and was extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work within such a stunning structure. Tor provided interior and exterior spaces that were well proportioned, functional (and beautiful!) and took perfect advantage of dramatic property views. He was gracious and open to detail edits along the way in order to accommodate client and designer wishes for budget changes, specific materials, furnishings, etc. Our team of builder (Gemini Development), architect, designer, and client resulted in a home that is loved by it's owners, and won two ASID Design Excellence awards in 2014. I welcome the chance to work with Tor in the future!

Tor did an excellent job. We have been in our home for ten years. Its beautiful and (more important) so livable, so functional. The front facing the street is wonderful. But the back, which often is an afterthought, is also eye-catching. We live on a golf course and enjoy sitting in the back with a glass of wine watching golfers ogle our house. Be sure and let Tor oversee your contractor. It is a vital service he offers to make sure your home is built well.
