With our old house (1927), I knew there would be unforeseen issues when replacing with new windows, doors, and siding. It was important to have a quality contractor that has worked on many, many older houses in the past, and a team that does the work themselves. I've seen the old (and new) houses DDBR has remodeled. I knew they valued energy efficiency and 'doing it the right way' vs doing the quick and easy way. As predicted we ran into several issues that would affect quality, efficiency, structure, and water tightness. The Degnan team talked us through what was going on and how they proposed to correct it. We couldn't be happier with the final outcome.

Outdoor Deck I've known Abe Degnan as a personal friend and client for many years so when I had the opportunity to rebuild and expand our deck, Degnan Design-Build-Remodel was my first call! I could handle the update, sanding and sealing of the existing deck on my own, but wanted an expert to change out the railing from wood to black finished metal and replace a 4' stair with a 20' wrap around staircase. The work was completed yesterday and exceeded my expectation in every way! The lead carpenter and his carpenters were amazing, the work was completed on time and on budget, and we are receiving nothing but excellent feedback from neighbors, friends and family.

Degnan did a beautiful job creating the 3 season room of our dreams. It has become our oasis, the favorite spot of our house, and it helped keep us sane during COVID. Even though it's “3 season,” we can use it year-round. The wide modern fireplace they recommended heats the entire space in even very cold conditions, and the insulated floor helps maintain a warm surface once heated. It’s always a wonderful experience to relax with a cup of coffee next to the warm fireplace while enjoying the expansive view. As you can tell from the pictures in the portfolio, Degnan’s craftsmanship and attention to detail were top-notch. They took what we were looking for a way beyond the next level, with some fantastic ideas. We initially looked to convert the existing deck space, carrying forward a typical rectangular room layout. They suggested that pulling the area inward into more of an L shape would make it more dramatic and cozier. This layout enabled some very striking design features, like the tandem windows and the exposed beam over the dining area. They also did a fantastic job creating a vaulted roof ceiling that matched the home's exterior aesthetics and made way for light to pour in on those large beautiful windows. A lot of thought went into not just style but also the functionality of the space. For example, the layout allows quick access from the kitchen to the grill, and I didn’t even realize all the benefits until using the space. Notably, they had recommended a landing instead of a typical stairway, and aside from just looking better, it’s a lot easier to carry trays of food with your hands full when you have that additional space. Another example is they recommended a four-pane vinyl window system that can be put into all kinds of open configurations, and it’s super easy to clean. One of the features of the project we enjoy the most was a custom expansive glass folding door. It essentially gives us a glass wall that we can completely slide out of the way, creating a fully open space when we have guests. This makes the room feel like a natural continuation of the house, as opposed to an isolated space. It eliminates that awkward crowding you usually get with a more typical doorway. The fact that it slides means you do not cover the light switches with a door; they remain accessible in the room. The Degnan team was fantastic to work with, and even the owner (Abe) was highly engaged and responsive to any question or concern. *even after project completion*. Further, Degnan stands behind their work and is committed to your complete satisfaction. There was a manufacturing issue with our flooring, and Degnan diligently worked to correct it as soon as they were aware of the problem. Six months after the job was completed, Abe still personally reached out to make sure nothing new had popped up, and we were still happy. They even came out to check for shifts from season changes. We couldn’t be happier!

Abe and team were great to work with from start to finish! They made our dream backyard and our budget coincide. The transformation from our aging backyard deck last year to this stunning patio and garden is beyond words. We couldn’t be happier. Mom has her own Zen escape from the family now.

Our project was to transform a completely unfinished basement into a living/entertaining space (complete with a wet bar and full bathroom). We selected Degnan because Abe was the only contractor out of the several we met with who really listened to what we wanted and needed from the space, rather than going with what we assumed we could afford. The issue was a metal support beam in the middle of what would become the living room. We had assumed replacing the post with a beam would be prohibitively costly, and so had tried to design the bar around the beam. Thankfully, Abe recognized that we wanted a warm space for our growing family to live in with a bar attached, not a bar with some living space in the back corner! He came up with a plan to remove the post and stay within our budget. We enjoyed working with the entire team at Degnan. Andrea designed a beautiful space and guided our material selections without choosing them for us, and the end result is stunning! The project manager, Anthony, was always quick to respond to questions we had and offer creative solutions. Everyone who came into our home to do work was very respectful of our space and careful to minimize disruption. We are thrilled with the end result and have already received numerous compliments from friends and family who have visited. We will be going straight to Abe and his team again for future projects (we're already making a wish list for our dream kitchen...).

We hired Degnan Design-Build-Remodel for an exterior project caused by extensive water damage. They completely redid our front entryway arch/pillars and our bay window using EIFS. They installed a new water/trim board around the entire house. They also installed flashing under our siding (since it wasn't installed during the initial construction of the home (by another builder)). We no longer have to worry about water damage when it rains thanks to the attention to detail of this team. We look forward to working with them on future home projects!

We hired Degnan Design Builders (DDB) in the spring of 2016 to convert a deck and screen porch to a four-season sun room, rebuild the deck, and add enclosed but unheated storage under the combination. We chose DDB because they built our home in 2003 for the original owners and, after purchasing and living in the home for 6 years, we were pleased with the quality, durability, and style of the construction. We also considered that they would have the original construction drawings available to help plan the remodel. We have now been using the remodeled and added space for over a year. We are extremely pleased with the outcome for the following reasons: Abe and his team listened carefully to our requests and then sought to honor them but were willing to suggest options and alternatives they thought might be helpful; Project Manager Anthony and carpenter PJ were outstanding in their helpfulness, willingness to answer questions, availability, and quality of work; DDB handled the selection of sub contractors, managed their schedules, and stood behind their work; DDB brought the project in on schedule and on budget. The remodeled space has been excellent to use, matches the original fit and finish of the house, and has exceeded our expectations. We are very pleased to recommend DDB to other homeowners seeking quality, thoughtful, and competent remodeling or building contractor professionals.

Abe got to know me & my wife to find out what we were interested in achieving. Then, he gave us options that solved our problems, rather than starting with a solution in mind. They were mindful of our budget and provided more than I expected for our budget. This won't be the last project Degnan Design Builders complete for us.

I contacted Degnan Design to assist with everything from concept to design and installation of an outdoor living space for my home. The monstrosity of a deck was difficult to maintain and didn't have a functional layout for our needs. Abe listened to our wish list, took in design ideas from our descriptions and pictures we found online, and was able to meld them all together to design and deliver an amazing outdoor space that looks phenomenal and is incredibly functional for our family. We've spent more time in our new space over the last year than we did on our deck in the previous 10 years! Not only did the final product meet all expectations, but the customer service through the entire process was top notch! Abe and his crew did an absolutely wonderful job in repairing water damage on three floors and adding a full first floor bathroom. As I was home much of the time during this project, I can vouch first hand for the professionalism, courtesy, consideration and friendliness of all the interactions. The workmanship was exceptional. And I never had to tidy up the space after the work people left. Although we had a pretty good idea of what we wanted and how we wanted the project done, Abe made some great suggestions that we incorporated. An example was to design the first floor bathroom to be handicap accessible (which has been handy with a visiting mother-in-law, and a couple of other visiting guests), and doubling as a dog wash! We made a point to see a couple of Abe's homes in the Parade of Homes, and loved the design and the home. I highly recommend Degnan Design builders for projects, whether it is for a whole new home or a rennovation

the kitchen remodel could not have gone any better. it pays to use a reputable construction company like degnan. and the subs were all great to work with too.

We've known this family for many years and felt comfortable right at the start using Abe for our project. We had no idea how much things would cost for all the projects we wanted to do. After working with a designer we were able to get a clear picture of the best options thanks to her excellent advice. Though the project ended up with many challenges for us and our project manager, they didn't give up and continued to work hard to resolve the issues.
