Blackdoor Design by Tamra CovielloDated built-in bookshelf turned awesome! It was an old oak built-in bookshelf, now it's more like a feature wall. A bit of Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore and botanical wallpaper by Thibaut transformed this space! The client's unique style and personality are reflected in the use of their art collection and memorabilia to style the bookshelf.

We restored the marble fireplace and added a new surround, added custom built-in cabinetry and shelving, and restored the original parquet flooring. Room features vintage Mid-Century Modern furniture and showcases the homeowners' eclectic collections.

J. Stephens InteriorsA classical home library was created using custom walnut cabinetry. This photo features the roman shades that are in an ikat-patterned fabric by Corraigio. The custom lighting designed with a movable arm and brass frame has a custom shade in green silk. The lining of the shade is done in a pale grey. Inside each niche sits a regla ottoman done in a green silk velvet wiht pale gold trim. The ottomans can be broght out to use as addtional seating either at the desk or in the living room
Sarah Barnard Design LLCA quiet office space with built-in bookshelves made in collaboration with a local artisan using FCS-certified reclaimed elm wood. A roman shade references the hummingbirds nesting out the window and celebrates the homeowner’s love of birding. A live-edged wood table made by a local craftsperson provides a beautiful surface for reading and writing, offering a tactile and visual connection to nature. The bookshelves store beloved nature books, with covered storage below deep enough to hold a printer.
RIC design buildWe provided the design for this bedroom to library conversion. By opening up the ceiling and going into the unused attic space, we were able to create floor to ceiling library shelving that finally housed this academic's literary collection. Original transom windows in the attach as well as three floor level windows let in lots of natural light for working and reading.
北野彰作建築研究所元々、タンスや物品を収納する納戸でしたが大量に書籍をお持ちなので、その収蔵庫という位置付けで改造しました。貴重な学術書が多いので保存性を鑑み調湿性・保湿性・抗菌性の高い柿渋和紙、シラス壁で仕上げています。また塗料は化学系では無く自然界の鉱物を主原料とした塗料で着色塗装しています。

Susan Tully InteriorsWith a large collection of books and an avid interest in American history, this client contacted TULLY&KLAS to design a library to house his book collection and space to read and research. As we do with many of our projects, we love to incorporate imagery and influences from our travels around the world. We had just returned from a trip to Ireland where we visited the library at Trinity College in Dublin which became the inspiration for the multi-tiered bookshelves in this 20 foot ceiling space.
We like to think of the design aesthetic as mid-century modern meets Irish library. The double height ceilings are finished in teak and ebonized mahogany, the marble floors have radiant heat to keep things warm in the winter, and there is an elevator to access the basement which has a large table for looking at old maps and building plans.
To make this space private yet accessible to the main house, the entrance is just off the terrace from the main house. A perfect place to get away but still stay connected.
