If the thought of using pink in your interiors seems a tad scary, you’re not alone. Many of us shy away from the colour, thinking it might be too soft and sickly. However, used in the right way, pink can look fantastic.
Check out these rooms, all of which show how you can decorate with pink to create a cosy, warm and beautiful space.

Focus on florals
Rather than having one flat pink surface, try layering a range of hues by using it in a pattern. This dining space, for example, is dominated by a huge floral design on the wallpaper. The petals allow a variety of shades on the pink spectrum to be included in the room.
The texture of the pattern gives a softer feel than if it had been introduced as one block of colour.

Be gradual
Again, if you’re after a soft, layered look, try this idea. The rug features a gradient of pinks, ranging from a deep berry to a pale rose, which sets off the space beautifully.
The colours appear elsewhere, too, with artwork, flowers and textiles placed around the room – all offset by a teal backdrop.

Give it an edge
For a more striking look, consider contrasting a pink surface with deep blue or charcoal grey. In this kitchen, the herringbone tile pattern is lifted by its soft pink colour – but what really sets it off are the dark blue cabinets.
Alone, a light pink can seem quite whimsical, so it’s a good idea to mix it with something much stronger. The deep blue here is ideal, as it provides a contrast without being too brash.

Lighten up
Fancy a brighter take on a deep colour teamed with pink? Lighten the scheme by simply adding mint green and turquoise.
The soft velvet quilt, translucent lamp and pink-tinted flowers in this bedroom contrast beautifully with the black chest of drawers and cushions. The green and turquoise accents then add a zingy tone that completely lifts the space.

Team with blue
Pink and navy are a fantastic colour team, as the two tones bring out the best in each other. This room shows how the hues can work together to create a warm, cosy space.
The dark blue walls and sofa form the smart, chic base of the room, while the pink accents provide a shot of warm colour. To bridge the two hues and add another layer of interest, the designers have included some green on the cushions.

Try a tint
Use just a touch of pink to add interest to a plain white bathroom. The tiles at the back of this shower enclosure have a very pale rose tone that isn’t overbearing. The shade gives just a hint of warmth to the space.

Go softly softly
There’s no denying pink’s gentle qualities. The shade is soft and warm-looking, which is ideal in a bedroom.
To add to the restful feel of the pale pink chair, the designers of this bedroom have included more soft finishes. A velvet headboard, draped curtains and a silky carpet complement the 3D wallcovering. These tactile surfaces work with the pink to create a bedroom that feels wonderfully tranquil.

Bring in some bling
The owner of this gorgeous living room has teamed a pale pink sofa with dark walls and metallic finishes. The sumptuous surfaces take the pink up a notch, turning the space into a luxurious haven.
If you’re going for a look like this, but are concerned it might be too dark, lift the mood with white surfaces, like the coffee table and rug they’ve used here.

Add warmth
This stunning open-plan kitchen and living area owes its cosy feel to the pink accents dotted around the space.
A concrete floor, black features and limited colour palette create a minimal, industrial look. To warm it up, the owner’s added midcentury wood furniture and those all-important pink textiles, flowers and accessories.
