My home is over 100 years old and in an historic district. Any new construction needed to maintain the integrity of the original building; so expanding the footprint of the original structure to accommodate a modern kitchen required the right contractor, someone who is current with today’s materials, and techniques, and yet respects the beauty and detail of an older home. In Joe Zieba and Zieba Builders, I found a design-build contractor who was able to blend these two constraints perfectly. He and his team have an exceptional eye for detail and a love of craftsmanship, and are able to execute on both. Zieba and his design team came up with a 160 sq ft addition that seamlessly melds the conveniences of a modern kitchen with my 1912 home. I now have a beautiful kitchen with all the modern touches which feels like it was always part of the house. I cannot say enough good things about Zieba Builders. Everyone on the team was polite, knew their job, and was professional. The bid was detailed, fair, and accurate. There were no surprise charges, and the timing of the billings followed the schedule exactly, which made for easy budgeting. My new kitchen is a showpiece. The quality and craftsmanship of the work is the same as one would find in the finest houses in the country. Zieba Builders have exceeded my expectations on all fronts. My wife and I had a great experience working with Zieba Builders in creating our dream kitchen. The owner Joe Zieba always made himself available. The quality of their work really showed. It was great working with their interior designer who helped us choose finishes and light fixtures. Any questions or concerns were always addressed thoroughly. We have worked with other contractors in the past who were not always responsive, and did not take the care that Zieba Builders did. We knew that for our kitchen, we wanted quality work without the headaches of having to stay on top of a contractor to make sure the work was done timely. I can't begin to tell you how much we love Zieba Builders! In an industry where it feels like a constant push/pull between client and builder, Zieba takes away any of those feelings and replaces them with constant communication, first class quality, and unparalleled design. We hired Zieba Builders after a long year of looking and researching for a contractor. Joe Zieba and his entire team were extremely professional and conscientious right from the start. Almost every part of our house was either remodeled or updated. One of the biggest part of our remodel besides rescuing it from a terrible 80's experiment was opening up the living, kitchen, and dining rooms into one gorgeous yet functional area. This new living area also ties in and opens up to the new front patio and backyard allowing us to fully use and enjoy all the square footage of our home and to truly live the southern CA indoor / outdoor lifestyle. Kelly, Zieba Builder's designer drew up several beautiful and functional plans until we decided on the one that we liked and fit us the best. Her ideas and designs were spot on with my vision......which sometimes were all over the place but she managed to understand what I was trying to achieve. My husband, on the other hand is more about functionality and they were able to combine both visual aesthetics with every day conveniences. From the design stage to the actual build to the finish work, we were kept in the loop and they always answered my many questions. Organization and communication were very important to me and the Zieba team was: from the owner, Joe, to the designer, Kelly, to Joe's supervisor, Josh and the rest of the team, Angelika and Bret. They were all wonderful! All of Zieba's sub contractors were also very professional and did some amazing work. I like to mention that, although construction noise is unavoidable, my neighbors did not have any kind of issues during the project. Lastly, our project was completed at the promised time which was quite an accomplishment since it was scheduled to be done around Christmas. Not only do I love my "new" home, I've had countless compliments from my neighbors and friends. As you can tell by my review, I highly recommend Zieba Builders and would use them in a heartbeat if we ever remodel again.

We are about half way through our extensive remodel project in Bluff Park Historic District. I doubt if we would have been approved for our project without the help of Joe and his team. Kelly really knows how to work with the Cultural Heritage Commission which is notoriously strict. We were told at our hearing that changes to front elevations are never approved in our district but they were convinced of the value of our request and approved the changes anyway. Everyone is very responsive when we have questions or issues. And everything seems to be progressing very smoothly, at least from our point. They listen closely to our preferences but suggest ideas and solutions that are both aesthetic and practical. Joe, Kelly, Joshua and the rest of his team are wonderful to work with and make what could be a very trying experience much less stressful. They all show extensive attention to detail. I highly recommend Zieba Builders.

Working with Zieba Builders was an absolute pleasure. Our 1920's Spanish Revival home was in dire need of a full kitchen remodel. Our goal was to stay in keeping with the original 1920's art deco design yet bring in many of today's modern amenities. After collecting magazines, photos, and concepts for over a decade, we presented the Zieba Builders team with our collection of ideas. It was amazing how they breathed life into these ideas and made them all a reality. We are enjoying our new kitchen immensely and looking forward to working with Zieba Builders on a few other projects...so keep posted!

Zieba Builders performed a complete remodel of our kitchen and the finished project is absolutely wonderful! Joe and his team are incredibly creative and have an amazing work ethic. Everyone from the crew to the foreman, designer and front office are kind, supportive, professional and helpful. The job and budget were discussed in detail and we did not have any surprises. Kelly, the designer, is amazing. She went out of her way to research the look we were trying to achieve and she delivered us a project idea that we loved. Joe and his team brought it to fruition with amazing detail and craftsmanship. We couldn't be any happier with the entire project.

Joe & Karen and their whole team were wonderful to work with (especially the PM George and our designer Kelly). We did a whole house remodel top to bottom, and had to be remote for 50% of the time. We never felt like that was a challenge at all. They communicated well when we were on East Coast, and we always saw the progress they promised when we were in town to follow the work. Their suggestions for design, and materials were always in step with the products and decisions we were making on the project, and most important the quality of their work was exceptional. Joe worked within our budget and worked with us on any changes we introduced or the project demanded..we never felt surprised by any aspect of the project or the finances. I can't say enough about the attention to detail that was carried throughout the project. And I can't say enough about the quality of the people on their team..truly a pleasure to work with, and I would highly recommend them.

We have contracted with Zieba Builders for 2 separate projects. They built an outdoor kitchen/entertainment area for us several years ago. Then last summer we hired them again to remodel two bathrooms and add built-in cabinets to two bedrooms. The company is everything you want in a design/build team. They are time-sensitive, cost-conscious, communication-focused and move through the entire process with integrity.
