Elemental Designs was set up by Rachel Merrick in 2003 and has successfully designed and built over 90 gardens, including a 70-acre private estate, to small urban gardens. After many years of garden design and build for a wide range of clients and gardens, the prime focus of work is now the niche area of PLANNING DISCHARGE LANDSCAPE DRAWINGS for architects and homeowners who are undertaking a complete house re-build or major renovations, for which detailed landscape drawings are required to be approved as part of the final planning approval process and prior to any construction works commencing. Working nationally with a wide number of architects and local planning authorities, on both private and commercial schemes, Rachel can supply the required details requested by planning in a timely These may include detailed hard and soft landscape drawings together with full written build and planting specifications and 5 to 10-year maintenance plans.

I have worked with Rachel on numerous projects in both London and the South East. The drawings are precise accurate and have all the information to enable the project to be costed accurately and therefore the projects are brought in on budget. Rachel is an excellent communicator both verbally and written to both the client and contractors so all are informed of specifications and project deadlines. Rachel has designer flair linked to a very practical understanding of all aspects of both hard and soft landscaping. I would recommend her to both Domestic and Professionals markets

We really appreciated the way Elemental Designs listened to what we wanted and then brought their own flare to our brief. They came when they had said, the work took as long as they had said, they quickly responded on subsequent querries. The result was all we had hoped but better.

Rachel designed our town house garden from scratch - the site was literally bare earth. There were numerous challenges, including limited space, our need for a low-maintenance garden, our wish to screen our swimming pool area from neighbours' views, and ongoing construction around during the garden design and planting phases. Rachel and her team were excellent. She has great ideas, listens very well, is flexible, sourced very high quality plants, and the end result was exactly what we wanted and very good value for the money. Her installation team were terrific - easy to work with, friendly, and hard working. Three years on, our garden is thriving. We would highly recommend Rachel and her team to anyone requiring high quality garden design.

We found Elemental Designs l via the internet & liked the website so arranged a meeting. We warmed to Rachel straight away & after chatting through our likes & dislikes etc & seeing her portfolio we decided to engage her. We had no recommendations, just this meeting. Rachel was professional, accommodating & very approachable. She made us feel that we could ask anything & nothing was too much trouble. Also the garden wasn't just about planting but involved heavy ground work & Rachel over saw the whole project, the end result was & remains amazing, indeed it improves with age. Since the garden was completed in 2013, she has come back each year to check out the progress & given us reports on what we need to do. She has also worked very closely with our existing gardener. In summary if you want a trust worthy, knowledgeable garden designer who cares as much about your project as you do, look no further.

Rachel of Elemental Designs provided the landscape designs for our garden. We selected Rachel as our landscape designer following a quality assessment of a number of practices. Working closely with us she developed the brief and design to meet our requirements by adopting a structured iterative process using examples and sketches to show us how she proposed to meet our brief and produce a design that exceeded our expectations. The scope of work included, a formal lawn, flower beds, drainage, lighting, fenced vegetable patch and orchard. She produced the tender documents, obtained quotes, and managed the contractor on site. She directly procured and installed the planting. The service was excellent value for money. The garden is now reaching maturity and it continues to delight us as we see new shapes as the plants develop.
