Not many pics like this - I'd like a cyclist to be able to ride up, dismount, walk though a gate and around a corner to a roofed area to park the bike - all on a reasonably direct path to the house. If the car park is open to alley/street, having a gate and some visual screen should be decent. If there's some cumbersome doors, or you have to drag the bike across the yard, it won't work.
kind of this feel from inside
after entering, a fountain splashes gently into a pool, then overflows. feeds the birds and the soul
the shading looks good
A lot of iron here - was wondering if trellis structures are allowed from fence to house (i.e., in the setback)
I just like how the walkway and porch create the courtyard feel
this might allow greater shading
shade structure a bit awkward, but pool/deck nice
maintenance?
admittedly a ranch house, but the shady nook created around the entryway makes a pleasant passage
stone wall plus pergola plus running water equal psychic air-conditioning?
if that tree is a myrtle or something that could grow up against the house but be above the windows, it would be cool
erase house. i like the feel of a low stone wall under a tree, where you can face the tree seated. like a tree-pit?
I just wonder: how much more use could you get from this space if it had a 40% shading device above. any?
metal gate in stone wall nice
metal fence atop stone wall would be nice, but maybe too $$$

some variegated I hate, these not
softer plants along walkways
ok, a bit too southwestern with cacti, but when a light tree leans up to a house it makes this cool shade - perfectly, the tree would clear the windows
a better house is across the street - sameish house but all wabi-sabi in frontyard and back
I hate this surface - it invites bad footing. better to have larger areas of soft footing interspersed with smaller areas of firmer footing. probably would look really formal, but so be it.
for this house, it's ok, but I like the house across the street much better - traditional in the front, bohemian in the back - the austin mullet landscape
not the curtains and decor, but the pool/structure fit well together
no killer corners or edges - yay!
ok, not white, not a pattern like that, but in that vein
I think painted pickets are too formal for us. maybe if the fence structure was all metal, unpainted pickets might not be too much maintenance
I like this for the front yard fence. Not sure if I like the bottom, but I like the rest - and the height should be such that no one who leans against it will fall over. basically, taller than 36"
