Living Room Ideas
Love the "acquired over time" feel the various pieces bring with them. There's so much character and interest in each pillow, piece of art, and item of furniture that you'd assume there's a great "remember when we found this?" story behind them all. Also love the interplay of blues with that mossy green couch.
The overall effect is much more formal than I would want in my own house, but I just flat-out adore these glass-paned windows/doors used in the interior of a house. Great way to break up an open floor plan so that you can do separate activities in different areas without losing that sense of spaciousness.
I like the earthy palette, travel posters, and heavy wood beams and floors in this room. Not so crazy about the actual furnishings, but the overall effect is great.
Love the color palette and mix of patterns and textures in this room. It just feels homey with out feeling over-designed.
This skews more contemporary than I like, but I really love the layout of this room overall. Functional, comfortable, but still beautiful.
The "cedar shake" above the door keeps the room from being too light and too cold. Love the fireplace wall and how it looks like it's clad floor to ceiling in marble; I wonder if you could get the same effect with Sirewall or other rammed earth products?
Love the way the fireplace anchors a wall of windows, and also happen to love those windows. Gorgeous space.
I love how contemporary these built-ins feel because they aren't floor-to-ceiling and topped with crown molding, but instead have varying heights and shapes. Really unique.
If that's a see-through fireplace to be shared with a library "nook" off of the great room, I might just be in love. Especially if that stupid TV could be moved elsewhere...
This color palette is really appealing to me, and I love the white trim and the retro-modern feel to the chandelier.
Stupid living room furniture and placement, IMO, but the other elements in this room are utterly fantastic. Love the high ceilings, beams, stonework, open concept, wide plank wood floors...
Love the repeating motifs - the arch-with-keystone in the built-in and the fireplace, the horizontal stripes of the drapes and the muillioned appearance of the mirror, etc. It makes it interesting but also soothing.
Really like the sort of chunky-but-refined architectural elements combined with the bold, geometric print. Very modern but still traditional.
Love how fresh and clean this feels, especially with the way the built-ins create a sense of symmetry and movement around the TV.
Barn doors are fantastic and I rather like the idea of being able to hide your TV and components this way if you aren't going to be watching it.
I would love a living room and dining room that were this open if I had a spectacular view (although I'd also want hidden shades that could come down at night if I wanted to feel cozier). Like the ceiling and fireplace in this room in particular.
Love how warm the wood and stone make this space.
Don't really like the furniture but like the overall industrial feel of the finishes in this room, from the cement wall to the ceiling fans.
Another perspective on an open concept living room that I like. My big complaint would be that I hate having TVs above the fireplace - for viewing comfort, they should be at or below eye level when sitting.
Love the graphic pops of color from these posters, especially against a subdued palette.
Cannot believe the beauty and craftsmanship in this fireplace. Not sure I would want one situated like this in my own living room, but the overall look is something to emulate.
This is open and bright, with vaulted ceilings and beams. It incorporates so many of the elements I love in one space.
Love the aged wood beams and the windows/doors that have such an industrial feel, as well as the way the distinct spaces are still open to one another.
Love the grasscloth wallpaper in an unexpected color. It's dramatic but still relaxing.
Love the openness, the black metal frames for the windows, wood beams to bring warmth and natural materials in, and the amazing kitchen.
