Nymphaea Marliacda chromatella is an elegant pale lemon water lilly which will spread to 1-1,2m wide over several years. Needs to be planted at a depth of about 70cm.
Aponogeton aka water hawthorn is a very useful plant for shading the pond, and produces these pretty flowers in early summer. Very easy to grow.
Hesperantha 'Major' is a soft crimson lily from S Africa, spreads gradually to form a good clump for late summer interest. Will flower into autumn if mild. Sun or partial shade, a moist but well-drained soil is best. Ht 40cm.
Carex elata aurea - Bowles golden sedge. Evergreen sedge with bright gold leaves in spring, gorgeous textural plant. Grows to about 60cm, clumps up nicely.
Astilbe 'Fanal', Ht 60 x spr 40cm. Rich red flowers in early summer.
