Ruck Project
Example of the Pure White - Quartz we're considering. It's a solid white, that has very muted soft flecking throughout to soften the tone of the white and make it warm and inviting. I like the way this color coordinates with the black paint color and fixtures we've chosen - it offers a classic look. A stark white countertop can look a bit harsh when directly in contrast to black paint, in my opinion.
The 6 x 6 tile we're considering can be installed offset or straight stacked. It's sold in individual tiles. This image is from an alternative tile manufacturer; this was the tile sample that had another color glazed over it - the one that we thought looked a bit distressed. I'm actually going to keep that sample on hand as a contender - it's growing on me. Looks great with a color matched grout, which I recommend, regardless of which tile you ultimately choose - subway or 6 x 6.
This pic is mainly letting me visualize the colors: a beige-ish with white trim and accents of black. (The idea of the black/charcoal fireplace is what made think more about black with the white trim, wall color, and wood floors. I do like blues, but would a blue island and black fireplace surround so close together look weird?
I kind of like the look of this kitchen. I am imagining it with "accessible beige" walls and think I like that look. Things I like in this pic: the white cabinets, light countertops and black island. I also like how the stools look in here - they remind me of some the baskets I have that I like and may use around the house.
Instead of carrying the kitchen backsplash tile over to the fireplace facade, we may consider accenting it with a charcoal/black tile and even add a small hearth to ‘anchor’ it within the space. It may result in a more timeless appeal than repeating the backsplash tile, which I’m thinking you may want to be a bit more fun and interesting, as you’d mentioned.
Love the mix of off-white and grey, upholstery-seating with a mix of bold colors used for the décor (pillows and rug). This could work in your house - note the similar wall and flooring colors - although I think your wall color is more on the grey side than taupe - and, soon your trim will be similar to this home's trim. Orange and blue are complementary, contrasting color in terms of color theory and make for a cheerful combination.
Here is the 5x5 square, white tile. Just uploading this for reference.
