Kitchen Ideas
Might be a good way to make upper cabinets more accessible.
If bright cabinets and are too much, maybe neutral cabinets with a bright backsplash and accents like this?
Might be nice depending on what the rest of the kitchen ends up looking like.
Dos and don'ts of kitchen lighting
The blue on the ceiling creates a neat effect!
I usually don't like too much wood, but this is nice. Most wood cabinets make me feel... too much like I'm cooking in my parents kitchen. I might think the kitchen is wonderful, the cabinets might look beautiful, but I can't see myself being at HOME there. This look, on the other hand, works for me.
Fridge protrudes into dining room. Coffee station on left side of fridge, (snack) bar on right. Would something like this be acceptable if the living room was adjacent to the kitchen rather than the dining room?
Love the blue!
Interesting idea. Not sure there's anywhere to actually put something like that in our kitchen though.
Hmm... space on either side of the sink. Landing space next to the fridge + above the oven. Microwave could go in the wall cabinet above the oven and share that landing space as well. Where does that leave the cooktop? And where would the toaster oven go? I guess, with this layout, you'd still have the same amount of counter space as with a freestanding range/oven. It's just that now some of your counter space is above the oven rather than beside it. Lose some counter space to the cooktop but gain it back over the oven. The toaster oven will take up another chunk of counter space, but it'll hog the same amount in either configuration.
Apparently this palette is "distressed blue, wood, patinated metal, and creams". I like it!
It's a step stool like Marsha has!
Good handle style for a toekick drawer. It occurs to me that a toekick drawer might also be a good place to stash the big serving platter. Or maybe the tart tins.
OMG! Toekick drawers! Good for holding appliance manuals and service receipts. Could also be a storage space for batteries and flashlights. Or maybe the cheeseboard and knives. Might also be okay for cookie sheets or muffin tins, but I worry that I use those too frequently for this to be a practical spot for them.
Hoping to install a pot rack to hang most of the pots and pans from, but maybe something like this would be good for cast iron that's too heavy to hang and lids.
Pretty!
Pretty! Bright!
It's beautiful, but could I really see myself cooking in here? I'm not sure.
This is pretty, but I worry that without the big window and with the darker counters it would end up feeling small and dark and claustrophobic.
I love this! I think it'd be even better with something other than slab-front cabinets. But it's still pretty good as-is.
Normally I think I'd feel that the fairly plain wood-tone cabinets didn't have enough personality, but check out that wall! I do think I'd like it better with more interesting cabinets, but I like it this way surprisingly much.
What fun floor tiles!
I do like this shape for backsplash tiles. Maybe cream cabinets with a bright punchy blue tile?
Blue! The countertop is only BARELY grey though. Not sure how this would work with a darker grey/black or without the lighter wood tones.
This isn't that colourful, but the interesting cabinet fronts and backsplash tile shapes make it work. I might want something a little more punchy, but this works surprisingly well.
Nice colours.
I don't necessarily want these colours, but I like how... social and friendly this kitchen feels.
This is gorgeous! I'm not sure it's really "me". And I worry about how difficult it would be to clean, but it sure is pretty.
So bright. Maybe I should consider cream cabinets above and something colourful below.
Ooh! Now there's an interesting idea. White outside but colourful inside. Nice backsplash too.
Yes! Colourful base cabinets, dark countertops, vibrant backspash with an interesting inset.
The Grey is very nice. Not sure if I'd regret not getting something brighter though.
Happy and bright.
Hmm... cream cabinets with blue walls... I actually really like that.
I think I'd still prefer to have colourful cabinets, but quieter cabinets with a very loud backspash/wall covering could work.
Interesting having the plates provide the accent colour.
This is nice. Looks attractive and comfortable.
This looks so rich an lavish. Love the aesthetic, but maybe a bit too posh and formal for me?
I like this shade of yellow, but I don't think I'd want it for the whole kitchen. I think it'd go nicely with a bright sky blue though.
Chickens!
The accent ceiling with complementary backsplash is pretty neat.
Nice colour. I really like green + dark wood tones in kitchens. That said, the idea of a blue kitchen is growing on me...
Would this be too dark without the glass fronts? Also, interesting idea with the dish rack above the sink.
Too pale or just right?
I like the little accent panel over the stove.
Yet another great light blue + black combo. I might do the walls a different colour though.
The built in china cabinet is a neat look. I don't think I'd want to give up that much counter space, but it's an interesting idea. I also just love the cabinet style and the crown molding. The darker blue is nice with the white countertops, but I'm not sure it'd work with the usual grey/black soapstone.
That's a neat idea. Would be nice for onions and potatoes. Not sure there's room for it in our kitchen though.
