Knight - Materials and Millwork
Pavers. - Knight’s: we don’t hate these, but don’t love them. Darlene: Note taken! This pic is just to reference the idea of pavers as an alternative to stamped concrete, not these pavers in particular as they are quite warm and don't go with your brick. I know your preference is stamped concrete. I will present you with some pattern options for stamped concrete and perhaps some pavers as an alternative - I will shortlist stamped concrete patterns and pavers that would pair well with the privacy wall and brick.
Composite cladding for privacy wall. Appropriate color would coordinate with existing brick, and the stone and pavers for the outdoor living space. - Knight’s: we like it!!! And think it would really pop with a white ceiling - Darlene: my comment above may have been misleading. I recommend the graphite color for the cladding to pull on the dark notes in the brick. Applying a warm color of cladding adjacent the brick would not pop as much as applying a cool color, such as graphite. BUT, having said that - if you prefer a warmer shade of cladding that mirrors your brick color, I'm not opposed it it. I really want you to get what you want out of the design - I'll plan to revisit the cladding color again to make sure you like the final selection - I also have several shades of grey paint to choose from your front door and shutters that looks great against your brick (it could be used to paint the cladding if you end up choosing wood over composite too)! Regardless of what color the privacy screening is at the back, I think the front door and shutters would look really rich and add needed contrast to the front of your home (and would still be timeless).
Posts - tapered in term of width - which makes them 'read' like back of the house posts instead of front porch 'columns' to me. - Knight’s: we like it!!!! Darlene: I managed to come up with a white post that is similar to this but consistent in size and has a very simple top and bottom caps that will go with the contemporary privacy screening in terms of aesthetics but also logistically (installing the privacy screening along the one post).
Fascia. - Knight’s: can you circle which part you’re thinking: Darlene: the fascia is the horizontal board that you see running horizontally just under the shingles of the roof - it spans the circumference of a roof-line. I'm suggesting just a simple white fascia board and have worked out all the required measurements for it based on the size of the roof joists and thus overall thickness of the roof and ceiling together.
