TextureOne key part of a design palette that sometimes gets overlooked is rich, inviting texture, and this element is especially easy to forget about in a bathroom space, with its many hard, glossy surfaces. You can see here how this space has a very simple color palette but already looks inviting just from the elements of grassy woven textures.
PaletteTo make a bathroom feel inviting but airy, and warm but also contemporary and clean, it’s important to achieve balance. Using a lot of white or crisp just-off-white will make the room feel larger and lend pleasing contrast to warm elements.wood framed mirror

8. Crisp-Rustic ContrastThis type of farmhouse-style vanity is popping up all over Houzz. The unexpected drawer sizes, rustic wood and new silhouette have shaken up bathroom design. Tiling from floor to ceiling, a classic black-white floor tile and barn sconces continue the theme, while the use of all that white keeps things clean-looking and fresh.Notable detail: The just-right-sized baskets for towels on the bottom of the vanity. Like the natural look of the basket and touch of black

3. It works as a frame. Want some pattern on your walls but not all over? Try teaming classic subway tile with smaller areas of pattern, as shown in this design. The pale gray subway tile forms a frame around one of two recesses that were tiled with an intricate design. The pattern would have been too busy all over the walls, but the subway tile calms it down and helps showcase the beautiful design in the recesses. When designing each space, Ninelle chose to display only items the couple really love. The larger print seen here above the leather daybed is by artist Anna Bülow. The couple bought the smaller print of Positano when they vacationed there. The daybed is a newer addition to the living room. “When we find pieces for our home now, it must be something we both absolutely love and have purpose for,” Ninelle says.Leather daybed: CB2; throw pillows: HomeGoodslove the couch
Asymmetry. Our brains derive emotional pleasure from symmetry, according to physicist Alan Lightman, author of The Accidental Universe. In design, objects mirrored along a central axis represent order, stability and calm. But disrupting the formality of a symmetrical room, as the homeowners have done here, can add energy to an otherwise static space.

The main challenge of the project, Smith says, was the massive repair work and the fact that it cost more to fix than it would have to tear it down and rebuild. The result was a faithful interpretation of midcentury architecture combined with of-the-moment design touches. Here, the redone wall of windows lets an abundance of light into the dining room, which is furnished with a custom-made dining table built by Smith. Simplicity and rabbit
