NJ Project, Charlotte, NC
The completed project stands among Craftsman style homes in a vibrant infill neighborhood. The homeowners are both color blind but can see blue. To accommodate them we used a plethora of blue foliage. The wife is drawn to unusual textures so we used textural plants when appropriate. She particularly loves the contorted filbert which wraps around the lamp post. A feature of the new front garden is the steel knee wall which replaces a stacked stone wall. To bring the color of the rusting steel into the garden we used groupings of Little Devil ninebark shrubs. To contrast up against the steel wall we used blue dune lyme grass. This grass can be somewhat invasive when happy so the homeowners will have to do some maintenance. Photo by Jay Sifford.
