Ipe wood deck
Built by me this deck has "sleepers" that are strips of Ipe about one by two inches long and running the width of the deck to tie the boards together. Each deck board is glued using T88 epoxy and screwed with two stainless steel screws that keep the width of the board from cupping. The sleeper strip ties together the boards in groups the number of which depends on capacity to move easily. Sleepers are spaced evenly with strength as priority and all screws predrilled and all joining elements glued. The top of the deck shows no sign of this and is completely smooth. The deck is built upside down and in panels which can be removed for cleaning or repair. Oiling is done once or twice a year as needed and restores to deep tone close to original. Deck gets lots of sunlight and no cupping or warping is seen as all boards are glued and screwed in close intervals.
