ARNOLD Masonry & LandscapeThis is one of our most recent all inclusive hardscape and landscape projects completed for wonderful clients in Sandy Springs / North Atlanta, GA.
Project consisted of completely stripping backyard and creating a clean pallet for new stone and boulder retaining walls, a firepit and stone masonry bench seating area, an amazing flagstone patio area which also included an outdoor stone kitchen and custom chimney along with a cedar pavilion. Stone and pebble pathways with incredible night lighting. Landscape included an incredible array of plant and tree species , new sod and irrigation and potted plant installations.

Lamb, Landscape ArchitectThis propery is situated on the south side of Centre Island at the edge of an oak and ash woodlands. orignally, it was three properties having one house and various out buildings. topographically, it more or less continually sloped to the water. Our task was to creat a series of terraces that were to house various functions such as the main house and forecourt, cottage, boat house and utility barns.
The immediate landscape around the main house was largely masonry terraces and flower gardens. The outer landscape was comprised of heavily planted trails and intimate open spaces for the client to preamble through. As the site was largely an oak and ash woods infested with Norway maple and japanese honey suckle we essentially started with tall trees and open ground. Our planting intent was to introduce a variety of understory tree and a heavy shrub and herbaceous layer with an emphisis on planting native material. As a result the feel of the property is one of graciousness with a challenge to explore.
FormLA LandscapingWalking past the Retreat is a delight, rain or shine, and in any season. Lined with Cleveland, Pitchers and White Sage, the garden scents the street with a distinct array of minty-fresh fragrance year round. In spring, blooms add to the delight, as does the sweet scent of California Lilac floating down from the top of the slope.
Pacific Garden DesignWhile these homeowners' 1966 Asian-inspired rancher was built for entertaining, the backyard wasn't living up to its potential. A combination of crumbling composite and wood decks wasn't functional and had become an eyesore, so they were replaced with an expanded single-level PVC deck. A new paver patio features a sunken fire pit and inset bench rocks, providing further space for entertaining. Additionally, a paver path wraps around the existing retaining wall and ramps up to the deck, providing a barrier-free entry to the house that will enable the homeowners to age in place.
LaneScapesThis project was a steep hillside. An aqueduct-type step-down system was constructed to slow down and retain runoff. There is a drainage system beneath the plantings, stone and mulch.
