Urban Oasis Landscape DesignA short 42“ high pony wall was erected in the front yard with a gate for visitors and an electric gate for their cars. The front gate was inset into a niche which allowed for some stylish urns planted with dwarf Kumquat trees.
Mark S. Garff, Landscape ArchitectIn Seattle's Fremont neighborhood SCJ Studio designed a new landscape to surround and set off a contemporary home by Coates Design Architects. The narrow spaces around the tall home needed structure and organization, and a thoughtful approach to layout and space programming. A concrete patio was installed with a Paloform Bento gas fire feature surrounded by lush, northwest planting. A horizontal board cedar fence provides privacy from the street and creates the cozy feeling of an outdoor room among the trees. LED low-voltage lighting by Kichler Lighting adds night-time warmth.

Yard MavenOld lawn was transformed into a drought-resistant garden offering ever-changing colors and textures. Turf removal rebate from the local water agency helped offset the cost. A new stucco wall with iron gates were built to create an enclosed porch/courtyard to give homeowners a much-needed buffer between their home and the hustle and bustle of a big city . Recycled bricks grace the new wide walkway and enclosed porch.

Pacific Garden DesignTucked away in a small subdivision, these homeowners have taken their builder-grade backyard and transformed it into a Japanese-inspired oasis. After the initial landscape design and construction by Pacific Garden Design, the homeowners have continued to craft an elegantly evolving landscape. A multi-level deck provides entertaining space as it steps down to the yard. A dry water feature anchors the corner of the yard, while a series of stone benches provide spots for quiet contemplation. The thriving garden area takes advantage of the southern exposure along one side of the yard and offers an opportunity for garden whimsy. Gravel pathways connect the space to the front yard and the natural area behind the property.

Southwest Boulder & StoneAt the Southwest Boulder & Stone main headquarters, we wanted to create a beautiful space that requires little to no maintenance and showcases the possibilities of combining different rocks and plants. Laura Eubanks chose the rocks from our yard and provided the succulents and design, adding a bit of Copper Reflective ½" fire glass on top of the criva to add interest to the project. Lifeguard Wet Look sealer was used to lock the criva and fire glass in place, adding vibrancy and ensuring a long-lasting installation.
