SHELLY ANN ABBOTT, MLA, A MULTIPLE AWARD-WINNING LANDSCAPE DESIGNER CREATED A NEW VISION WHEN SHE DESIGNED THE LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE FOR THIS JOSIAS JOESLER RESIDENCE IN THE CATALINA FOOTHILLS IN TUCSON AZ. THE NEW DESIGN IS INTENDED TO BE BEAUTIFUL AND SUSTAINABLE AND DISPLAY THE SPANISH ARCHITECTURE AT ITS FINEST. A NEW BRICK WALKWAY AND PATIO DESIGNED IN A CLASSIC LAYOUT FEATURE A NEW SPANISH FOUNTAIN FACED WITH LASCAUX TILE. THE TILE DESIGN IS BASED ON AN ORIGINAL PERSIAN TILE FOUND ON A FOUNTAIN POOL IN BALBOA PARK, CA. IT WAS THE CLIENT’S IDEA TO DESIGN THE SPOUT IN THE IMAGE OF A SAGUARO FLOWER. MATURING PALO VERDE TREES FORM A CONTINUOUS LACY CANOPY UNDER WHICH COLORFUL NATIVE DESERT UNDER-PLANTINGS THRIVE AND GIVE YEAR AROUND COLOR AND INTEREST.
Urban Oasis Landscape Design
Flowers bloom with abandon in an exuberance rarely seen in a front yard. The gravel area is a place for Zen-like relaxation as well as visual respite from the profusion of color. Using mostly California natives ensures that the water requirements will stay low.

This Mediterranean style landscape compliments the style of the home. The fountain in the motor court creates white noise that is reflected from the stucco walls of the house, covering any noise from the adjacent street.
The infinity pool reflects the water of the bay. Fire bowls on either side of the pool provide ambience at night. Landscape lighting around the entire property enhances the fountain and palms and lights the way along the brick walkways.

Harold Leidner Landscape Architects
Completed in 2013, this stunning Italianate Mediterranean Villa is located in Highland Park, Texas and stands out in an already distinct architectural neighborhood. This project was designed and installed by Harold Leidner Landscape Architects. The expansive property features a lush landscaping, front motor court with travertine pavers and a luxury pool and spa. The pool area was designed to have a private resort feel to allow for entertaining. In addition to the spacious loggia and cabana spaces, the owner also wanted to have shade protection near the water, so a custom designed pavilion was built on the end of the pool to provide a shaded destination with cushion lounges that extend out into the water, flanked by fountains and adjacent to a fire bowl feature with a classic fire place surround. A truly elegant outdoor space for parties and entertaining with a sophisticated, modern flavor.

Dig Your Garden Landscape Design
Just one of the many plant groupings comprised of succulents and other low-water plantings that thrive in this Northern California hillside sanctuary. The Cuphea (large firecracker plant) with orange flowers is a non-stop bloomer. the Agave 'Blue Glow' and the Chalk Sticks (Senecio mandraliscae) succulents offer a beautiful contrast with colors and textures. A hillside above Baker Beach was reclaimed and allows the client to get closer to the elements via stone stairs and terraces. The Plantings that were used are site appropriate for this very exposed coastal property.
