Smalls LandscapingOne-of-a-kind and other very rare plants are around every corner. The view from any angle offers something new and interesting. The property is a constant work in progress as planting beds and landscape installations are in constant ebb and flow.
Windsor CompaniesThe entire grounds of this Lake Minnetonka home was renovated as part of a major home remodel.
The orientation of the entrance was improved to better align automobile traffic. The new permeable driveway is built of recycled clay bricks placed on gravel. The remainder of the front yard is organized by soft lawn spaces and large Birch trees. The entrance to the home is accentuated by masses of annual flowers that frame the bluestone steps.
On the lake side of the home a secluded, private patio offers refuge from the more publicly viewed backyard.
This project earned Windsor Companies a Grand Honor award and Judge's Choice by the Minnesota Nursery and Landscape Association.

Earth Design, Inc.Earth Design worked with arborists to eliminate trees that were sick and too close to the house. We added fresh sun loving sod to establish a new lawn and added lots more interesting native plants! We fixed drainage issues all around the house.

Wilderness TamedTerrestrial habitat features like the stone filled hibernacular in the foreground were built by the children. This would offer amphibians and small mammals a place to forage and hibernate. There were also log piles and places where the plants would be allowed to grow wild.
Dorthy Pautz Landscape Architecta raised deck was added so that a new corner spa could be nestled into the garden and be seat height, eliminating the need for steps up to a tall hot tub. A removable section of the deck allows access to the mechanical panel in the spa. A cut-corner spa was selected to allow more circulation around the spa. Custom lattice panels with a narrow trellis top complete the spa experience and provide privacy from adjacent houses in this tiny urban garden.
Great Outdoors Ann Arbornatural Bluestone was used all over the landscape. Here, bluestone steps begin at the side entry and lead you to the bluestone patio and custom fire pit in back.

YardDocYardDoc designed and created multiple rock landscapes for customers in Austin, TX. These drought resistant landscapes liven up your yard with unique designs and individual beauty. While we craft every landscape to the yard and customer, we present examples here to inspire you.
Working with the existing trees and plants, we built this landscape to match the wrought iron fence.
First, we placed a limestone barrier in a design reminiscent of a lake emptying into a river. Outside the retainer stone, we laid larger, red river rocks. On the inside we placed smaller, black rocks to highlight the rest of our modifications.
We built a stone fire pit in the center then crafted stone benches for seating around the campfire. We built a path our of large, flat stones that bring the different colors and textures together. Finally, we placed one last stone that, while decorative, can also be used as an end table, if necessary.
