When Joyce met The Advance Design Studio, Ltd., she knew she had met the right designers to remodel her 25 year old Barrington home. With impeccable decorator touches already established in the majority of her home, she knew she had to update her kitchen to reflect her fine taste for rich materials and deep shades of color.
The home’s original kitchen had low soffits, outdated floor tile, and an unusable island totally insufficient for grandchildren’s snacking and entertaining with friends and family. What the kitchen really needed was a more updated functional space in the traditional flair that resonated throughout the rest of the home.
Advance began by opening the kitchen up to the adjacent family room with a view of the large comforting fireplace through a soft curved arched opening. Large travertine porcelain tiles set on a 45-degree angle accentuate the already spacious room and maintain it’s brightness. Contrasting and rich cherry cabinetry is accentuated by the addition of Cambrian Black Granite counter tops with shimmering flecks of copper and gold. Exquisite brass inlaid glass doors lit from behind adorn the island and the buffet that separates the two rooms, tastefully displaying the owner’s collection of crystal dishware and goblets. An Italian tumbled marble backsplash adds the finishing touch, creatively replicating the glass door design behind the cook top.
Now that this dramatic kitchen facelift is complete, one might think that this beautifully elegant traditional kitchen has always graced the floor of this already lovely home. But the proud owner likes to tell everyone who has the privilege of seeing her kitchen - that Advance Design Studio, Ltd. “advanced” her dreams into reality!
